Have you already visited Noto, in Sicily? From whatever direction you reach it, you will see it soar on the plateau covered with citrus groves overlooking the Asinaro Valley.
You will immediately see a harmony in the forms that almost borders on fiction. Defined as the “Capital of the Baroque”, in 2002 its historic center was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, together with the Val di Noto.
Noto has very ancient origins, but as it appears today it is the result of the reconstruction after the devastating earthquake of 1693 which completely destroyed it.
It was thus rebuilt on a larger and safer place, with a linear layout, parallel and wide streets, using the local light and compact limestone, to which time has given a wonderful gold color with shades tending to pink.
