Surely you have heard of the Arco Magno beach as one of the most beautiful places in Italy. In fact, the Arco Magno located in San Nicola Arcella, in the province of Cosenza, in Calabria, is one of the most spectacular and evocative beaches that you can visit during a trip to this beautiful region. In this short article, we recommend how to reach this incredible scenery on the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Arco Magno beach, also called beach of Aeneas or Grotta dei Saraceni due to their ancient attacks, can be considered as a small lagoon about 25 meters long, characterized by the presence of gravel and pebbles with a transparent and crystalline sea.

It is called the Arco Magno due to the presence of a large and majestic rock arch overlooking the bay, which characterizes it and makes it unique in the world.

How to get to San Nicola Arcella?

To get to San Nicola Arcella and, from here, to the beach, the easiest way is to take the A1 motorway (which connects Naples to Reggio Calabria) and take the Lagonero exit near Cosenza. From here you will have to take the Strada Statale 18 and drive about 40 to Praia a Mare-San Nicola Arcella.

How to reach the Arco Magno beach?

Once you arrive in San Nicola Arcella, you can choose two ways to visit the Arco Magno beach.

By sea: you can reach the beach starting by boat from the numerous nearby beaches, or even by pedal boat from the nearby Marinella beach. Obviously this mode is recommended in summer and with optimal sea conditions. Also, consider that the area near the rock arch may be off-limits due to safety problems. Get the necessary information before you leave.

By land: through a path carved into the rock that takes you close to the beach. It is a fairly short path, but there are some points that are not so easy due to some steep rocks, but with care and suitable shoes it can be tackled without problems. This mode will allow you to see the Arco Magno from its most scenic point. In this case, we recommend that you park your car in San Nicola Arcella or Marinella and, from here, proceed on foot.

What is the best time to visit the Arco Magno?

Arco Magno beach has its charm during all seasons of the year, but it certainly gives its best during spring and summer. It can be visited throughout the day, but we believe that this must-see natural spectacle gives its best in the afternoon hours when you can enjoy an incredible and unforgettable sunset.
