Thinking of taking a trip? Here’s what to visit in Rome in one day. Rome is a city rich in history, art and culture, so there is plenty to see and do. Here are some of the city’s must-see attractions:

What to visit in Rome in one day?

  • The Colosseum: One of Rome’s most famous symbols, the Colosseum is an amphitheater that dates back to 79 AD. and was the scene of spectacles such as gladiators and naval battles.
  • The Pantheon: a Roman temple dedicated to the gods, which today is considered one of the masterpieces of Roman architecture.
  • Trevi Fountain: one of the most famous fountains in Rome, located in the homonymous square. Legend has it that throwing a coin into the fountain brings good luck and guarantees a return to Roma.
  • The Campidoglio: the political heart of the city, located on the hill of the same name. Here are the Campidoglio, the Palazzo del Senato and the Palazzo dei Conservatori.
  • The Vaticano: Seat of the pope and the Catholic Church, the Vatican is a state of its own located within Rome. Here are some of the most famous works of art in the world, such as the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.

These are just some of the many attractions that Rome has to offer. There are many other museums, churches and monuments to visit, such as the National Roman Museum, the Sant’Angelo Castle and the Mausoleum of Augustus. We hope we have been helpful!

Where to stop for a quick lunch break in the center of Rome?

Rome is full of taverns, trattorias, restaurants and bars where you can have a quick lunch break. Here are some ideas:

  • Il Forno: a chain of historic bakeries located in different parts of the city, where you can buy fresh bread, pizza by the slice and other local specialties.
  • Flight sandwiches: Rome is famous for its flight sandwiches, which are prepared with fresh and genuine ingredients and can be enjoyed standing up or sitting at outdoor tables.
  • Covered markets: Rome has several covered markets where you can find fresh food stalls and taste local specialties at affordable prices. One of the most famous is the Testaccio Market, located in the district of the same name.
  • Trattorias: Trattorias are informal restaurants where it is possible to taste traditional dishes at affordable prices. There are a great many of them throughout the city, especially in the historic centre.
  • The bars: Rome’s bars are famous for their coffee and brioche, which can be enjoyed at the counter or seated at the outdoor tables. They are ideal for a quick and tasty break.
