The Furore Fjord refers to a deep fissure called the Lattari Mountains that makes this point on the Amalfi Coast.
Since 1997, as part of the Amalfi Coast, it has become part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is also part of the Club of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The Borgo di Furore is located at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level in the upper part of the Vallone di Furore.
Marina di Furore, on the other hand, is a tiny fishing village which was very flourishing in medieval times thanks to its position which protected it from invasions that could come from the sea and with a nearby stream which also provided sufficient water for the operation of the mills for the production of flour, an essential food for sustenance at the time.
The place is home to a tiny seaside village which was inhabited, among others, by Roberto Rossellini (who shot the film Love there) and by Anna Magnani, who was then romantically linked to the director and who starred in an episode of that same movie. A small museum dedicated to them is housed in one of the houses.
Today Furore has a strong tourist attraction, both for the beauty of the context, for the quality and transparency of the water, but also because of the diving.
The dives of Fiordo di Furore
In fact, every July, Furore organizes a championship of diving from great heights called the Mediterranean Cup and which attracts sportsmen from all over the world who dive from the bridge from a height of 28 metres, and the exhibition is particularly spectacular if enjoyed on a boat from the sea side.
For more information on the event visit the official website of the Municipality of Furore www.comunefurore.it
