- Pacentro – This hamlet located in the heart of the Majella National Park offers a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. It is known for its ancient Castle and its narrow stone-paved streets. In winter, you can ski at the nearby Roccaraso ski resort.
- Pescocostanzo – A historic village located in the heart of the Maiella National Park. It is known for its well-preserved stone houses, old churches and medieval castle. In winter, you can ski at the nearby Roccaraso ski resort.
The best months to visit these villages are spring and summer, when the climate is mild and the days are longer. However, autumn is also a very beautiful season to visit Abruzzo, as the landscape turns red and orange. In winter, these villages become even more picturesque thanks to the snow and the Christmas lights.
