Caves of Pastena, the magical millennial result of the waters
The extraordinary Caves of Pastena must certainly be counted among the most fascinating spectacles of nature in Ciociaria and in Italy. They are the magical result of a slow and incessant work that nature, or rather, the waters have been able to perform on the rocks; a show not to be missed!
Inserted within the Regional Natural Park of the Ausoni Mountains and Lake of Fondi, the Pastena Caves are technically defined as “crossing caves”, completely passable (the active branch only by speleologists) from the sinkhole to the resurgence. The sinkhole (the current entrance cave) into which the waters of the Mastro ditch are thrown, has always been known by the local population: 20 m high and 12 m wide, there are numerous testimonies of its use, since prehistoric times. Posta Fibreno lake and reserve
Lake Posta Fibreno is located between the hills of Ciociaria at about 288 meters high, on the slopes of the Lazio Apennines and in the Comino valley, the Lazio side of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise national park and about 6 km from Sora .
It is a much loved lake by those who decide to visit it because it is surrounded by nature, characterized by crystal clear water and very special and interesting local flora and fauna. Historic village of Arpino, Cicero’s “homeland”
Arpino is an Italian town located in the province of Frosinone, in Lazio. It is one of the oldest and most important centers in the province from a cultural and artistic point of view and, among the things of particular importance to visit is a “pointed arch”, one of the few remaining if not the only one in the whole area. Mediterranean, the Civitas Ciceroniana, the medieval tower of the Acropolis of Civitavecchia. The city of Arpino is also known for being the birthplace of Marco Tullio Cicero’s Roman lawyer, politician and philosopher in 106 BC. (Read more)
