The Umbrian village of Spello and its characteristic colorful houses are a destination often chosen by Italian and foreign tourists. In Spello you can walk through the cobbled alleys and visit the frescoed churches. This country is a fascinating microcosm that still retains its long Roman history.
You will be able to visit the Roman fortified walls, which are defined as the best preserved in all of Italy, the entrance gates to the village. The famous streets are finely decorated with flowers of all colors giving the entire historic center an atmosphere of care and beauty. During the summer the flowers become the center of city life which culminates with the traditional Infiorata.
Spello: history, culture and Pinturicchio
Don’t forget that Spello is the town of Pinturicchio who left many of his masterpieces here such as the Baglioni Chapel and the Madonna and Child in the Church of Sant’Andrea. To visit: The church of Santa Maria Maggiore, The doors, The church of Sant’Andrea, The Municipal Art Gallery, The flowered alleys, Cappella Tega, The Infiorata, The Fonti del Clitunno (near Spello).
