The Checche oak (Quercia delle Checche) is a monumental tree (find out here all the monumental trees in Tuscany) located in Val d’Orcia, in Le Checche, in the municipality of Pienza in the province of Siena.
It is a specimen of oak (Quercus petraea). La cecca, or queer, is the name by which in Tuscany the magpie is indicated. The large tree is said to be around 300 years old, with a height of 19 meters, a trunk with a perimeter of about 4.90 meters, as well as a crown of over 34 meters in diameter.
