Chiusdino is a beautiful medieval village located in the province of Siena, in Toscany. The town is known for its ancient architecture and for being the homeland of the celebrated San Galgano, a warrior saint who lived in the 12th century.
The historic center of Chiusdino is characterized by narrow paved streets and stone houses, which overlook squares and courtyards. One of the most suggestive places in the town is the Piazza del Popolo. Here is the Collegiate Church of San Giovanni Battista, a Romanesque church from the 13th century.
However, the main tourist attraction of Chiusdino is the Abbey of San Galgano, located a few kilometers from the town. The abbey is known for its particular architecture, which includes a church without a roof, and for the sword in the stone, a fascinating legend linked to San Galgano.
The village of Chiusdino also offers numerous opportunities for nature and hiking lovers, thanks to its panoramic paths that wind through hills and woods. In short, Chiusdino is an enchanting place where art, history and nature come together in a unique experience. Photo by LigaDue – Own work, CC BY 3.0
