Monteodorisio Castle is a medieval fortification dating back to the 11th century, probably built by the Normans. The castle is located in the highest part of the town on the western edge of the hill, where it descends steeply towards the Sinello river, a position that allowed an unobstructed view to spot enemies, but also to allow for a possible escape.
Currently only two sides of the trapezoidal shape are visible, namely the north-west side and the south-east side and three towers located on three of the four cardinal points. In fact, at the end of the 19th century the southern part of Largo Castello and Piazza Umberto I was demolished for the construction of the town hall, with the demolition of a tower, above which the modern aqueduct tower rises.
