The Picchio waterfall is a beautiful waterfall located in Lazio, near the village of Nepi, in the province of Viterbo. The waterfall has a height of about 15 meters and is fed by the Farfa river. The name “Woodpecker” derives from the fact that in the past the place was frequented by woodpeckers, birds of the picidae family.
The Cascata del Picchio is a very suggestive place, surrounded by luxuriant and uncontaminated nature. To reach it, it is necessary to follow a path surrounded by greenery, which offers beautiful panoramic views of the valley below.
The area around the waterfall has been equipped to allow visitors to fully enjoy the spectacle of the waterfall and the surrounding landscape. In fact, there are wooden walkways that allow you to approach the waterfall without damaging the surrounding environment.
The Cascata del Picchio is an ideal place for a trip out of town, especially during the spring and summer, when the surrounding nature is more luxuriant. We recommend that you bring comfortable shoes and be careful walking on the walkways, which can be slippery especially after rain.
