The Stirone and Piacenziano park, often also called “Stirone park”, is a protected regional natural area of Emilia-Romagna, located between the provinces of Piacenza and Parma.
The main purposes of the park are the protection and safeguarding of the bed of the Stirone stream and the surrounding ecosystem, with particular attention to the protection of the fossiliferous areas emerging along the stream itself and in the sites of the former Reserve.
In the Park there are several more or less developed paths, which allow the visitor to touch all the main locations and to admire the various naturalistic, geological and historical-architectural emergencies.
In the Stirone area the paths wind along the stream, in some sections skirting the canyons dug by the erosive activity of the watercourse, even if due to this phenomenon, which causes continuous bank collapses, some sections are appropriately deviated on paths alternative. Along the paths, in the main points, there are car parks and near these equipped areas (in the localities of Fidenza, Le Cascatelle, La Bocca and Trabucchi) equipped with benches, tables, water points.
