The Vittoriale degli Italiani is an architectural complex located in Gardone Riviera, on Lake Garda in Italy. It is the house-museum of the poet, writer and patriot Gabriele D’Annunzio.
The Vittoriale consists of several buildings, including the main residence of D’Annunzio, called “Prioria”, which contains numerous objects of art and furniture collected by the poet during his life. In addition, the complex also includes an open-air amphitheater, an observation tower, a mausoleum and an Italian garden with numerous statues and fountains.
Il Vittoriale was created by D’Annunzio as a place of personal refuge. It is like a sort of “temple” dedicated to one’s life and work. After the poet’s death in 1938, the complex was opened to the public as a museum.
Il Vittoriale is one of the most important tourist spots in the Lake Garda region and is also a cultural center that hosts numerous artistic and musical events throughout the year. For more information, please visit the Vittoriale’s official website. Photo by Stefan Schweihofer from Pixabay
