How to reach Celano?
Whether you come from the Tyrrhenian side (for example from Rome or Naples) or from the Adriatic side, to get to Celano we recommend the Aielli – Celano exit of the A25 motorway. If you like slow travel, you can also take the Tiburtina road, certainly less direct and comfortable, but certainly more beautiful from a landscape point of view.
How to get to the Canyon of the Gorges of Celano?
Once you arrive in Celano, follow the signs for the Celano Gorges which are located a few kilometers outside the town. Near the entrance to the gorges there is a large car park which, however, fills up easily during the high tourist season, especially on weekends. From here you can start the path. Remember that hiking shoes, water and a minimum of training are required.
How much does it cost to visit the Celano Gorges?
Actually there is no entrance fee, so walking the path between the gorges is completely free. Always check the official site for updates.
What to see nearby?
There are several interesting places that you can associate with visiting the Celano Gorges. Surely the historic center of Celano with its famous Piccolomini Castle, the nearby Borgo di Aielli, known for its street art and murals, the ski resort of Ovindoli, or, slightly further away, the Ortucchio and Ortucchio lake, Raiano, the source of the Solfa, the Hermitage of San Venanzio, the Gorges of San Venanzio and the pretty village of Goriano Sicoli.
Have fun!
