Civita di Bagnoregio is a very popular village located in the heart of Tuscia Laziale, in the Valle dei Calanchi. It is a village characterized by the fact that the hill on which it stands is of clayey origin and therefore subject to strong erosion due to atmospheric phenomena. This can be seen immediately looking at the village from afar, features that made Civita di Bagnoregio famous all over the world.
Civita di Bagnoregio has Etruscan origins and, in that period, it lived its maximum splendor becoming one of the most important commercial centers of Tuscia.
The only access to the town is a small concrete road that leads to this wonderful village. Civita di Bagnoregio seems to be suspended in the sky with arches and ancient houses that surround the main square where you can visit the Church of San Donato. There are also numerous belvedere on the Valle dei Calanchi below.
Enjoy this town walking through the narrow alleys that will lead you to special and wonderful places and stop in some small restaurant or inn where you can taste traditional and gourmet dishes.
What to see in Civita di Bagnoregio?
Take time to visit the Geological Museum and the Landslides, the Church of San Donato and the Grotta di San Bonaventura.
