In this short article, we will recommend three places that you can visit during a day trip to Abruzzo. It will be a day dedicated to nature, art and history.
We recommend that you start the day by visiting the Tirino River, considered one of the cleanest and most transparent rivers in Italy. You can take a walk along the river (either on foot or by bicycle), or contact the tourist agencies that organize canoe trips on its turquoise and emerald waters.
From here, we recommend that you reach the nearby village of Capestrano where you can get lost in the well-kept historic center of the village and visit the Castle (for a fee) where a faithful copy of the Capestrano Warrior is kept, found right in the countryside around the village. The original is instead kept in the museum of Chieti.
In the afternoon, we recommend that you reach the town of Bominaco in the municipality of Caporciano and visit one of the places in Abruzzo where beauty can give you indelible memories. The Oratorio di San Pellegrino (also called the Sistine Chapel of Abruzzo), with its decorated vaults will be a visit that will crown this day in Abruzzo. Find out here how to visit the Oratory of San Pellegrino.
