Lago del Salto is the largest artificial lake in Lazio, located in the province of Rieti, formed in 1940 by the damming of the Salto river with the Salto dam and subsequent submersion in the homonymous deep valley of the Cicolano. Due to the barrier, the villages of Teglieto, Fiumata, Sant’Ippolito, Borgo San Pietro were submerged and then rebuilt on the banks. The reservoir is a place full of fjords, caves and attractions.

Where is it and where to park?

In the immediate vicinity of the shores of the lake there is a free car park with a tourist information point.

What activities can you do on the Salto lake?

During a visit to Lago del Salto, you can relax renting umbrellas and deck chairs, or have fun with pedal boats and canoes or wakeboarding for which national competitions are organized on the lake. If you are a diver, you can also make interesting dives to discover the submerged villages under the waters of the lake and which are regularly organized by local associations. For fishing lovers, on the other hand, in this lake environment it is possible to fish for perch, carp, tench, barbel and bleak. In the immediate vicinity of the banks there is also a bar-restaurant-pizzeria.

How much is admission?

Access to the shores of Lago del Salto is completely free. Rentals and activities are mostly paid.
