Today’s place, the island of Burano, in Veneto, was described by Francesco Moriconi.
Some more information about Burano
Burano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon, located in northeastern Italy. It is known for its brightly colored houses, which are painted in a variety of hues, including pink, purple, blue, green, and yellow. The origins of the island’s colorful houses are thought to date back to the days of its fisherman inhabitants, which used the colors to easily spot their homes when returning to the island after a long day at sea.
The island is also famous for its lacework, which is made by the local women using a needle and thread. The lace is known as “Burano lace,” and it is highly prized for its delicate beauty.
Burano is a popular tourist destination, and visitors can enjoy wandering around the island’s narrow streets, admiring the brightly colored houses and visiting the island’s lacemaking workshops.
