If you decide to pay a visit to the beautiful Etruscan village of Tuscania in the Province of Viterbo, here are three places we certainly recommend you to visit, obviously with the rest of the country which is really pretty.
The first place you can enter in this small itinerary is the Torre di Lavello Park overlooking the oldest part of Tuscania. This is a truly unique park, different from those we may be used to visiting. Certainly very well cared for where the green of the grass intertwines with that of the materials that shape the walls and the amphitheater. In this park, nature and history intertwine.

The second place we recommend is St. Peter’s Basilica. This basilica is a Catholic place of worship in Tuscania which stands on the hill of the same name, probably the site of the Etruscan acropolis. The front of the church overlooks a grassy clearing between the palace of the canons and the mighty defense towers (three of them remain, a reminder of the strategic importance of the area) while the very high apse stands out towards the nearby town. The third place we recommend you add to your walk in Tuscania is the church of Santa Maria Maggiore. This church stands on the slopes of the hill of San Pietro which also houses the basilica of the same name on its top. Named for the first time in 852 in a bull of Pope Leo IV to the bishop of Tuscania, Urbano (there is news of a bishop in Tuscania as early as 595, when a certain Virbono appears in the list of participants in a council), was consecrated on 6 October 1206.
